Terms & Conditions

These terms and conditions of sale are applicable to all orders and sale transactions for all books, gifts and other related products available through www.shetlandheritageshop.com. By placing an order for these goods you agree to be bound by and accept these terms and conditions.

These terms and conditions do not affect your statutory rights which cannot be waived or limited by contract.

Shetland Amenity Trust reserves the right to alter these Terms and Conditions without prior notice.


1. Prices and Payment

All prices are in sterling and include UK VAT at the prevailing rate where necessary. VAT is only applicable to countries within the European Union. Our VAT registration number is 716843912.

Card payments are made using SagePay, or using PayPal, independent payment facilities which allow credit / debit card transactions to be processed without passing your card details on to us. The Shetland Amenity Trust does not retain, store or have access to customer credit information.

Payment details and your order will be subject to scrutiny by our credit/debit card security system and by our staff. We reserve the right to cancel any order if problems or issues arise at this stage of an order. Customers will be notified in any such case.

Delivery charges are not included in the prices quoted.


2. Customers outside of the EU

The prices displayed for goods are inclusive of UK VAT. However, your final price may differ depending on the actual VAT rate that applies to your order. You will be able to see your final price inclusive of applicable VAT before you confirm your order, when you have completed your order information (including your delivery address).

Goods that are dispatched to addresses outside of the European Union are generally not subject to EU VAT. When ordering goods for delivery overseas, you may be subject to import duties and taxes that are levied once the package reaches your country. Any additional charges for customs clearance must be borne by you; we have no control over these charges and cannot predict what they may be. Customs policies vary widely from country to country, so you should contact your local customs office for further information. Additionally, please note that when ordering from us, you are considered the importer of record and must comply with all laws and regulations of the country in which you are receiving the goods.

By Post - If you would like to send your order by post, simply print out your completed order before proceeding to payment and send it to the address below. Please include your cheque made payable to Shetland Amenity Trust and send it to:
Shetland Museum and Archives Shop, Hay’s Dock, Lerwick, Shetland. ZE1 0WP.

By Email – . Please supply a daytime telephone number so that we can contact you about your order and obtain your credit card details. For security reasons please do not transmit details of any credit/ debit card by email.


4. Your Order

All items offered on our website are subject to availability. On completing your order you will receive an email to confirm receipt and details of your order. When your order is ready to be shipped we will send a second e-mail to confirm that we have accepted your order and that it has been dispatched.

Every care has been taken to ensure accuracy of description, specifications, colour and price of all products. However, these may change due to circumstances beyond our control. Sizes are given as a guide only. Please be aware that handmade items are subject to variations in size, colour and shape owing to the unique nature of the product.


5. Shipping Costs and Delivery

The total cost of postage and packaging is dependent on the contents of your order and its destination. Please see our delivery rates for more information. We aim to despatch within 2 working days and all orders will be sent by Royal Mail 1st Class post whenever possible.


6. Cancellation

Under the Distance Selling Regulations you have the right to cancel your order at any time up to 7 working days from the day after receiving the goods and return them for a full refund. You must notify us in writing (e-mail, fax or letter) of your intention to do so.

Should you cancel the order we will refund you the price you have paid for the goods, including any postage charges levied in getting it to you. You are under a duty to take reasonable care of the goods. The goods must be returned in saleable condition at your expense and we would recommend for your own protection that you use a recorded delivery service.

7. Returns Policy

This returns policy is separate and additional to your right to cancel your order as set out in clause 6 above.

Please contact us as soon as possible if there is a problem with an item sent, or if it is faulty. This may help us to resolve the matter and prevent it happening again.

If your goods have been mis-described, are faulty or damaged you should return them to us as soon as possible, requesting either a full refund (including return postage) or a replacement.

If you are not entirely satisfied with any item you receive, please return it to us in its original packaging and with all relevant documentation within 14 days for a full refund (excluding return postage).

In all cases, refunds will be issued within 14 days of receipt of the returned goods.

When returning an item, the parcel is your responsibility until it reaches us in an undamaged condition. At the very least we recommend that you ask your Post Office for a proof of posting (available free of charge). Please note that proof of postage cannot be accepted as proof of receipt and nor does it provide any insurance cover in the event of loss or damage in transit.

We regret that earrings for pierced ears cannot be returned, for hygiene reasons.


8. Data Protection

We operate and are registered as the Shetland Amenity Trust in accordance with current data protection legislation. Our data protection registration number is Z7593133. When you purchase merchandise via our online shop, we only collect information that is necessary in order to process your order. This information may include, but is not limited to, details such as your name and address. Shetland Amenity Trust only retains such information to process any transactions you undertake with us and for internal administration and analysis. We do not sell, rent or trade personal information to third parties for any purpose whatsoever.
